According to New York-based media reports, the Florida preacher was reportedly found with an envelope of white powder in his pants pocket. Police have yet to verify whether the substance was an illegal substance as of yet. Foul play has been ruled out and no plans to launch a criminal investigation exist at this time.

As the pastor of an 8,000-member congregation as well as also hosting and appearing on Christian television and radio programs, Dr. Tims was, according to the church website "miraculously saved, instantly delivered from drug addiction, and called into ministry," recounting his deliverance in his book “It’s Never Too Late.”

Hundreds of sentiments and condolences from members and non-members of the church have been and continue to be left on the New Destiny Christian Center Facebook page, including Gaddy Walls who wrote "I never knew Pastor Tims personally, but, I am glad to have had him visit my home every time I watch him on TV. I must add that he always said that IT'S NEVER TOO LATE! His sermons will always encourage me to continue to change my life! Thank you Zachery Tims!! Thanks for the messages of life..."

Hazel Mickle wrote, "All the way from Boston, MA we are at loss of words in finding this very shocking news, its so sudden...to the New Destiny Christian Center you had a remarkable leader, may you all be encouraged during this time knowing this is a sad time for you all, also knowing there is a destiny that lies within you and we believe that is what your leader instilled in each of you may God bless you and we want you to know that we are praying for the spiritual and natural family. Pastor Gerry & Hazel Mickle.”

The New Destiny congregation, which describes itself on its website as “...a family church meeting family needs where we're building people Prayer, Purpose, Power, and Prosperity," has not modified the website to reflect the passing of Pastor Tims.

An autopsy conducted Saturday failed to provide any clues as to what may have killed Tims, 42. Results of toxicology tests were pending. Tims, who divorced in 2009, leaves behind four children.

#29 JOSEPH FORBES 2011-08-21 20:06 I USED TO WATCH DR TIMS ON THE WORD NETWORK. I WAS MOVED BY HIS MESSAGES. I WILL MISS SEEING HIM AND HIS ENCOURAGING SERMONS. I HOPE THE BODY OF CHRIST REMEBERS ALL THE GOOD WORK HE DID AND NOT FORGET HE STILL WAS A HUMAN BEING FLAWED AND IMPERFECT JUST LIKE THE REST OF US. WE ARE TO STRIVE TO HAVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER WE MUST REMEMBER TO BE GENTLE, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING AND KIND, AND MOST OF ALL REMEBER WE ARE ALL SAVED BY GOD'S GRACE AND MERCY. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY AND THE CONGREGATION THAT THE LORD SENT TO HIM TO CARE FOR THE CHURCH AND THE CONGREGATION ALWAYS WAS THE LORD'S, ZACHERY WAS THE UNDERSHEPERD. ONE OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S SERVANTS. HE WAS ONE OF GOD'S ANOINTED. Quote

#28 Min. Monica Thompson 2011-08-21 06:01 I am very sorry to hear of this untimely death of a wonderful man of God. I am also shocked to have just read that pastor had a past addiction. But, I will say, God delivered him instantaneously , then used him to do HIS will, praise God. IF pastor relapsed, it just go to show you he was still a man that was still dealing with some imperfections that God had PURIFIED. An IMPURE substance introduced into a PURE (pastor) vessel, was just intolerable. It couldn't mix. I find no fault, I will always love pastor Zach's spirit and teaching. I thank God for Grace and Mercy. May God be with and protect pastor Tims flock until another sheperd is sent. Stay prayerful, watch and listen for the mighty voice and move of God…

God's blessings to Pastor Tims family and church family. Continue on in the course pastor had you on. Rest assured Dr. Zackery Tims, Jr. has now been; MY definition of R.I.P.- Resurrected In Paradise!

Humbly Submitted,
Minister Monica Teasley Thompson - Lebn. TN.
