Staff reports - The Florida Courier has received information that the president of Bethune-Cookman University, Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed, will resign.

The resignation is said to be “in the best interest of the school,” and that Reed has already announced her plans to school leadership.  Allegedly, the negotiation on timing and cost will occur before Reed's departure.

Additionally Dr. Larry Handfield, the chairman of the University Board of Trustees, is reportedly slated to step down as chair or resign as well.

This information comes following a series of incidents occurring at the school to include allegations of illicit sex between teachers and students; the termination of longtime employees and almost a dozen lawsuits.

The administration at B-CU is currently on the American Association of University Professors' list of "censured administrations," one of only 49 institutions nationwide on the censure list.

The Florida Courier ran a series last year investigating the turmoil at Florida’s largest private HBCU, which you can read here.

Check back for more on this developing story as information is made available.
