Florida Courier Gallery - NNPA 2011 National Convention, Chicago, IL, 6-23-11 (Day One)

The National Newspaper Publishers Association, "The Black Press of America" held its annual convention in Chicago. Corporate sponsors of the convention include Ford, GM, AT&T, Nielsen, and Wells Fargo.

Events of the first day included a Press and Pulpit Breakfast with a challenging message from Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, a multimedia platform workshop, a luncheon with a dynamic message from Rev. Marcia L. Dyson, and an advertising forum featuring panelists Donald A. Coleman of GlobalHue; Fay Ferguson of Burrell Communications; Chuck Morrison of Uniworld Group; Robert Brown of Carol H. Williams Advertising; Anita Laney of Professional Partnering Solutions; and D. Michelle Flowers Welch of Flowers Communications.

The day ended with the MillerCoors A. Phillip Randolph Messenger Awards Reception at the offices of the Chicago Defender and the NNPA Merit Awards Dinner honoring publishing and editorial excellence of NNPA member newspapers. Civil rights activist and broadcaster Xernona Clayton and actor Richard Roundtree hosted the event.
